What do I think? I think it's all about money. The church decided to deprive him of property he had already paid for ("leased" my a**) because he wouldn't give them more money. The guy obviously didn't care about the formality of being on their membership rules. This wouldn't even be news if the church hadn't peevishly tried to use his dead wife as a lever to get money out of him. Real "christian" of them.

I agree with you that the burial plot should have not been brought up, and was in poor taste. You are right that you don't really lease burial plots.

I too commend the church for wanting to keep internal matters, internal. I do think they are being petty about the plot though.

As for folks remaining on membership rolls long after they are inactive; some churches do it to falsely inflate their numbers. Others probably just have poor secretarial skills.

Just an update - the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod called and asked me to remove their logo from this blog since it is a copyright infringement. My bad.

I should have asked their permission, but I did put it up precisely because it was their logo and because it was an LMCS church. At no time did I claim that it was my own design.

Somehow I think they have better things to concern themselves with, but oh well. It's down.
