No problem, I've read post-election interviews with him as well so I know it wasn't just a political posturing thing. He really does hold her in high regard, and thinks she is representative of the future of the party.
Even though Micheal Steele is not as conservative as Ken Blackwell, I hope and pray that they will join forces to reform the Republican Party. If Micheal Steele wishes to make a strong argument to independents and moderates (more about them later) he needs to stress that in order for them to remain "moderate" or "independent" in voice (free speech) or in thier finances; Conservative political thought is thier best friend it allows moderates and independents to swing both ways. It's like the fact that we say that our rights come from our Creator. That fact alone is the Aetheists best friend and surest defense. I am all for dialouge, but when I hear someone say "I'm a moderate" I really scratch my head because I truly want to ask him/her this question. "Are you really smarter than Ronald Reagan AND Paul Wellstone Combined???? Please, let's have some intellectual honesty here. Shane, I hope and pray that you and more people like you are brought to the forefront. By that I mean, you argue against type. (I'm not trying to speak for you ) you are Conservative Theologically/Politically and yet you minister to the poor in ways that the Left may feel uncomfortable with. (things like faith, scripture).
On a different note. I'm not very internet savvy. Do you know where I could find a audio and or video file of the Ronald Reagan quote (if one exists) "America will have it's first woman President and she will be a Republican." I'm suprised that it hasn't shown up yet in a Pro Palin You Tube spot. You know what would make a great commercial? Taking some of the comments of then Sen. Barak Obama effusing how wonderful Reagan was and then place the Reagan quote, America's first woman president will be a Republican.

As an Australian I watch you from afar, but thanks to the net I can get up closer and get more involved.
As a supporter of smaller government and responsible fiscal policy I think Steele is a great choice. It is my wish to see the party pushing to reduce the size and scope of the state to the point where all Americans can keep more of their earnings, and you can go for days or weeks without having to think of the government for the simple reason that it has so little impact on your day to day lives.
You are the only people who can get your nation there as you are the only believers in that.

This is a very, very sad day for America. The election of Steele proves that the Republican party will not go in the direction they need to for the sake of our country. They can expect to be in the minority for quite some time to come.
Are you a true conservative or just a kool aid drinker? If you are a true conservative then you would listen to what this other true conservative has to say about him.
He's a RINO. On that we can be clear. This proves that the Republican Party's move to the Left might be a permanent legacy of the Bush years.

Greg, just what is that direction you feel that the party should go in. The item you linked to appears to be anti black, when the Republicans have been the prime movers in every effort to give them equality including freeing them from slavery. Why shit, they can just all be Democrats. The National Black Republican Association begs to differ, and my guess is that they did a damn site more in the election to promote the party than you did, unless you did a hell of a lot.
When did the party ever have an anti gay agenda, the Log Cabin Republicans don't feel that way.

First off, drop the "magic negro" rhetoric. I know you are quoting from the L.A. Times Op/Ed, but it just makes you sound racist and doesn't help in promoting conservative ideals.
I wouldn't call Steele a RINO. Do I agree with his every position? No. Has he been supportive of conservative candidates? Yes. Does he believe in and can communicate conservative principles? Yes. Was he my first choice? No he wasn't I had hoped for Saltsman, but he shot himself in the foot and was a long shot anyway. I really liked Ken Blackwell as well, now if Ken Blackwell was concerned about Steele's conservatism, why did he endorse him?
Also looking at what the RNC Chair does. He is an administrator. He is a fundraiser. He does political strategy. He is not a policy wonk or dictates the platform of the party. He does promote the Republican brand, and what I have seen of him doing that I have full confidence he will do that well.
Now I like Steve Deace, but I think the bigger problem for the party would have been keeping Duncan as Chair. Most conservative voices are not expressing the concern that Deace is stating. I'm not hearing outrage from Limbaugh, Hannity, TownHall, NRO, RedState, etc. Unless you are telling me Steve Deace is the one and only standard bearer for conservatism?

I don't believe you have anything to worry about in that regard. I think he will do a great job moving us forward, implementing needed strategies for elections ahead and communicating a conservatism. We may not agree with every position, but that doesn't mean he is a RINO.

Mr. Steele, since Obama was not vetted don't you think it is time to vet him before he destroys America. He acts like Hugo Chavez taking over companies. You need to talk to Orly Taitz at email - orlytaitzesq.com. Obama's father was a Kenyan, a British Subject, making Obama a DUEL citizen not eligible to be President under the Constitution of the U.S. He has paid over a million dollars to keep his records sealed. There are several lawsuits about this but not 1 Judge will let the cases come to trial. It would only take a day or so to clear this up by Obama showing his records, but he won't.
