The video is an excerpt taken from an old (1982) video that made its rounds among evangelical churches. Most of it is completely untrue and what is partially true is sensationalized beyond recognition.
The NCCJ (http://www.nccj.org/) said this about it at the time: "The film does not - In our opinion - fairly portray the Mormon Church, Mormon history, or Mormon belief. It makes extensive use of "half-truth," faulty generalizations, erroneous Interpretations, and sensationalism. It is not reflective of the genuine spirit of the Mormon faith."
In any case, a quick comparison of the "doctrines" in the film compared with the doctrines on the official LDS church sites, lds.org and mormon.org will demonstrate the problems with the film.

How far into the production do you want to go before someone points out a serious fallacy? The first (let me count) 15 words are: "Mormonism teaches that trillions of planets, scattered throughout the cosmos, are ruled by countless gods..." Taking for granted that the author of this cartoon meant to say "the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (LdS, for short) when they said "Mormonism," then they are wrong right there. There is no scripture in LdS canon that supports the idea of more than one God in our cosmos. Seriously. And rather to the contrary, LdS doctrine agrees that there are (and I quote) "worlds without number" in our cosmos, but all of them were created by the God whom we all, supposedly, worship. Make fun of someone else's religion if that is your source of amusement, but at least stick to the facts about it. It seems to be rather underhanded to misstate someone’s belief and then discredit it. I mean, that’s not much of a challenge, is it?

TPFKaCO - I wasn't trying to make fun of the LDS faith. You did exactly what I asked - point out items in the video that were not accurate according to LDS doctrine. I said in my post that I COULD NOT VOUCH for all of it, and the items regarding creation was what I was most skeptical of.

First of all, thank you Shane, for your kind words on my blog. I enjoyed hearing from you.
Second, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints- Mormon, if you choose. Without picking a part every aspect of this video, I would like to say it holds a lot of information and the majority of what is stated here is NOT what we believe to be truth as taught in our religion. There is a bases of truth for some of it (such as, we do believe that God the father is our Heavenly Father, and we do believe Jesus came to the earth and died for our sins), but I couldn't even begin to correct what is being said in the video because it is so far from what we believe. If you have a particular detail or area of the video you would like to discuss, I will be glad to do so, and help out where I can. And just like Craig said, you can visit lds,org to read about what we believe and our doctrines yourself, if you would like to do that before discussing it with me or anyone else.
Thank you for having an open mind about this. It helps to clarify things like this if I know I am not going to be attacked for doing it.
